The Ottawa Senators announced on Tuesday the club agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension worth an average annual value of $4.65 million with the veteran forward. The total value of the contract is $23.25 million, broken down to $4.5 million in each of the contracts first two seasons and $4.75 million in each of the final three seasons. MacArthur scored 24 goals and added 31 assists in 79 games during his first season with the Senators in 2013-14. The 29-year-old signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the Senators in 2013 free agency after spending his previous three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. "Obviously our happiness with his performance last year was a big reason to give him the term that we did," general manager Bryan Murray said Tuesday on a conference call. "Obviously were quite happy with what he did," Murray said. "Hes in that 20-to-25 goal range on a somewhat consistent basis and hes a real complement to the young players who will end up playing at some point with him.
